"Throw that Trash" Game

This was one of those time wasters that was dreamed up when I realized we had finished everything I had planned for the evening. It's a great thing to keep in mind when you have fifteen extra minutes. Reading Terry Carty's submission about name that scripture jogged my memory...

It's a spin off of the old Name That Tune TV show...easy set up: a trash can, a room, and a few pieces of paper wadded into balls. Have the youth pair up and say how many throws it would take them to get the ball of paper in the trash can. Advise the youth to start with high numbers to increase the drama and enjoyment. I had a large fellowship hall to work with, but you can use a number of rooms and basically you're playing trash can golf...trying to stay under "par". Move the trash can around, use different sizes of trash cans...anything, just keep it interesting for as long as you need it. This was a hit with a small group of Junior Highers I had that evening. Never tried it with Senior High, but it's a game almost everyone can play, and it's a fun way to fill in a gap somewhere during a meeting time! Enjoy
