The Penny Project Follow-Up: Drum Workshop

Since the youth of Birmingham First began studying Africa for their "Penny Project" they've looked for ways to know about that region of the world more authentically. So last Sunday we invited Ryan Edwards of
Likewater Drumworks to come lead a drum workshop and tell us about his experience living in West Africa. He taught the whole group (about 25 drums, one each for half the group at a time!) actual rhythms of the communities in which he's lived. In between Ryan told about all the different languages, ethnic groups, and cultural realities that make up places like Guinea. Talk about a "hands on" experience of the culture of our brothers and sisters in Africa!
