The Final Fundraiser
In December we ran a big campaign announcing the creation of a special club called 'Club-52'. We told people they could join this club by making a second-mile offering pledge of $1 a week for the entire year of 2007 (52 weeks = $52, hence the name). We set a goal of 100 members, for a total pledge of $5,200.
However, not wanting to limit people, the pledgecard contained checkboxes for $1, $2, $5, or 'other' ammounts per week. When all was said and done, we had 108 members and a total pledge ammount of over $8,000. Over $3,000 of that came in during the month of January because many members didn't want to hassel with remembering to pay their weekly ammount.
The sweetness for club-52 members is that at the end of the year (1st of December) we are throwing a huge banquet in thier honor. The youth will serve them and present them with special gifts they've put together. We'll also show a slideshow of all the various events that club-52 helped to fund throughout the year. These 'charter members' will have a chance at the banquet to be the first to sign up for the next year, and will enjoy special recognition in years to come.
The best part about this fundraiser is that it freed us up to actually do ministry. No more nickel and dime fundraisers. In fact, during the campain we promised the congregation that we would not ask them for further support during the year. All our other fundraising efforts must target 'community' money instead of congregation money. This allowed our other ministrys to step into the limelight for fundraising and has been beneficial to us all.
